AZDS Provides Green Solution for the NBA

Greetings all,

So much has changed since our last update. In December, we were contacted by the NBA, yes, National Basketball Association, to help them with a single night event. They wanted AZ Docushred to recycle all the material produced from the event. We recycled plastic bottles, aluminum cans, cardboard, and food scraps. Our backend recyclers were readily available to handle the output, but the food scraps were a challenge. We found a hog/goat rescue farm to take the food scraps. Commercial farms could not take it.

A few days after we solidified the one night event, the NBA called and wanted AZDS to handle the entire Block Party from pre-event to post-event. This was for the NBA All Star week in mid February. We setup five recycle stations in the same manner as the Friday night event, staffed them, and sorted the material. The NBA sent glowing remarks on the execution and how clean we kept the Block Party.

Overall, the Friday night event resulted in only 33% going to the landfill. The other 67% was recycled accordingly. The Block Party did not show the favorable results we anticpated. 32% was recycled and the other 68% went to the landfill.

We are now a "green" company that has the NBA as a client. Toodles.

Green Status Update

Hope everyone is having a good start to the new year. With our new president taking bold actions in his first week, things look promising. Lisa and I feel the same with AZ Docushred. The past month has left us believing that there are people like us who want to succeed, are not afraid to work hard, and network like crazy. We have a lot of pokers in the fire.

We secured a 2 good size contracts for our recycling services for a large client in February. This will stretch us to implement good planning and execution. We have been asked to go from start to finish to make sure all recycable material does not go into the landfill. AZDS is truly standing by our Zero Landfill policy.

AZDS is starting to work with organic farms to see if there is market for compost/soil generation for them to use. Also, we are looking at pulerizing glass for other uses as well.

Signing off and will write soon.

Happy New Year

Hope everyone that reads this had a good holiday season! Can't believe that 2009 is coming fast. We continue to work to get leads for the business. Being on the Light Rail route (office location), we were afforded the opportunity have an expo booth at the Dec. 27 MTA Kick off celebration in downtowm Phoenix. People would come to our booth and ask questions about our company. I had an interesting fellow from the US Census come to me and ask about our servcies. He invited me to the official kickoff of the Census process here in Phoenix. For those that don't know, the US takes an offical census of people every 10 years. I am meeting the decision maker and hopefully can land that job after the Census is taken. Still working on the large client for getting rid of food scraps. My teenage daughter and friends will work this event separating scraps from plates, etc. Alex wants to be eco-friendly, sometimes its not all attractive the work that needs to be done....... Later.

Season's Greetings All

Just a couple of lines to let you know how things are going with AZDS. We have expanded into the logistics of the catering world and recycling. We are working with one major client on their food scraps for recycle. I found a rescue hog/pig farm that will take the used food. Plateware made from compressed leaves and sugar kane utensils, who would have thought. I was also presented with a request for vinyl banner recycling. In our network, I found a person that will take them to give a vocational school and what can't be used, will be made into wheelchair liners for the handicapped. Who would have "thunk" that from a document destruction company.
Toodles.....for now.

Starting anew

Just some random thoughts on where the company is at and things in general. When Lisa asked me to come on board to start the business, I thought that we would only be focused on document shredding and electronic media recycling. What I have found is that there is a whole new world out there with recycling, and reuse. One area that we have expanded is the collection of water bottles and aluminum cans at client sites. This is really taken off with two clients using this service. We are working with another client that doesn't want food scraps going to the landfill. The two options I found are composting or feeding livestock. I learned more about composting that I ever wanted to and am comfortable explaining what should go into a compost pile and what shouldn't. Did you know what 'bokashi' is? Google it. Ok, I tell you. It is the natural composting meat, fish, dairy products using enzymes. Crazy that I know that now coming from the IT world. I have been able to share this information with St. Mary's food bank who are trying to use all their products and be green. Anyway, don't know how long I should write as this is probably boring. Will update in a few days. Chris.
